The Cross, the Resurrection, and Monday Morning

On Easter, we joyfully celebrate the cross and the resurrection. On this special Sunday, we thank the Lord for His unspeakable sacrifice on Calvary, and we rejoice in the display of His incredible power evidenced by the empty tomb.

But what about Monday? What difference does the resurrection make in your life as you pour milk into your Cheerios on Monday morning?  Shouldn’t an event of this magnitude change our lives?

The Resurrection of Christ not only has the power to change our eternal destiny, but it reveals a power that has the ability to forever alter every aspect of our lives—our responses, our relationships, our perspectives, our very motives.

I wonder how our lives would change if we understood and daily experienced “..what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 1:19–20).

If the only benefit of Christ’s sacrifice had been salvation and a sure home in Heaven, that would be enough to sing about for eternity, but there is more—infinitely more—than that. We are given so much every day as a direct blessing from the cross of Christ. Unfortunately, we tend to take these privileges for granted. Not only does our ignorance demonstrate ingratitude to the Lord, but it keeps us from experiencing the full blessings that come with salvation.

Are we failing to take advantage of the abundance of what God has given us? Are we living unchanged lives, when we have the power of Christ within us?

Perhaps a simple question would help, “What difference did the resurrection of Christ make in my life today?”
